Reachout Ministries is changing a community one child at a time
Reachout Ministries is transforming the lives of children and their families through the message of the Gospel. The children in the program are expected to attend church and their parents are encouraged to attend support classes where they are taught Christian values and presented the Gospel. As a result, families have been strengthened, marriages have been restored, and many have come to a saving faith in Christ. There are many testimonies of the impact of this ministry in the lives of the children, their families, and the community. Although, education and spiritual support are the primary goals, Reachout Ministries as also served the Chiquimula community with numerous other service projects. Reachout Ministries provided a 15 passenger minibus that is used to transport people to and from church, school, and doctors appointments. Each year a mission team travels to Chiquimula to serve the people. The distribution of gently used clothing is a welcome event in the community each year.
Because 60% of the population of Guatemala live in poverty, many of the children are unable to attend school. Education is free in Guatemala, however, each child must supply his or her own uniform and supplies. Of every ten children in Guatemala, eight begin school, four finish third grade, and only one goes to junior high school. Now with the support of Reachout Ministries, many children are able to receive an education. They are learning to read and write. They are learning science, math, and social studies. Because of the effort of Reachout Ministries, these children will become the future leaders of their community. They will be able to read a newspaper and they will be able to read God's Word.
